Laurel, Md., Thanksgiving Day St. Phillips Episcopal Church coordinated efforts to deliver Thanksgiving Day meals to 99 shut-ins in the Laurel, Md area. Working with St. Phillips were volunteers from several churches and American Legion Laurel Post 60, Voiture Local 265. Dinners are prepared, served and delivered by more volunteers.

 

Laurel Post 60 has provided kitchen facilities for three years. Volunteers arrive between 8:00 and 10:00 AM, begin preparing vegetables, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, desserts, and rolls.

 

Community Volunteers: Julie Waters and Cecilia Treadway worked in the kitchen. Post 60 Volunteers include Joe Dubis, Stan Brosky, and Phil Jorgensen, members of Laurel Post 60 and Voiture Locale 265 of La Societe des Quarante Hommes et Huit Chevaux (40 & 8). John Howell, Jr. and Pam Harrisson arrived about noon.

 

Together 99 meals were delivered, and a 123 meals served at the Church for a total 222 people served.
